Wild & Water Swimming, Inc. became the dream of 15-year-old Alpharetta, Georgia resident Laura White in 2005. An avid swimmer and community volunteer, Laura developed a concern for the lack of access to swimming lessons for economically disadvantaged children after she rescued five inner city children from drowning during a community-sponsored outing to a local lake for recreation.
In July 2006, on her own initiative, she began organizing pool locations, donations of equipment, transportation, and volunteers to teach swimming lessons in the Atlanta area. The program proved to be so popular that Wild & Water Swimming, Inc. was established as a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization the following year to enlist community support and expand her program to additional cities and states to serve ever more children in need.
Operated entirely by volunteers, the program has since won many awards and much acclaim while Laura, herself, has become a national role model for volunteerism and entrepreneurship. But more importantly, Wild and Water Swimming, Inc. is progressively providing life-saving skills to children who might not otherwise have the opportunities offered by the program.
We welcome you to join us as we expand across the country to include even more deserving children
